McAfee OEM

Hey there,

I have tried to install McAfee OEM Internet Security 2011 to my laptop after using their trial which you can download from the website.

I followed all the steps of removing the previous McAfee using their own removal software then reinstalling the new version with the CD. After installing McAfee wont activate, doesnt run properly and even stops my browsers from working.

I decided to try to get "support" through their online chat. After 5hours of a "2nd line technician" trying to fix the problem (yeah 5 hours, i actually left him to it while i went about the house) he decided the problem was down to Internet explorer. :confused:

Does anyone here have any clues as to why it hasnt worked?

Because it's McAfee, remove it and install MSE instead, could have saved yourself hours of grief.

Okay so the whole McAfee software doesnt work because its McAfee :rolleyes:

Yes, it really is terrible software...Microsoft Security Essentials or Avast, both free will be much better, you might also want to have a look Here

McAfee was only every good on Win 98 and early years of XP

MSE is the way to go.
Small footprint, non-invasive and free.

Im not asking which anti virus is the best, thanks for everyones advice on that. Im asking has anybody come across the problem above.

I can't help you here as I stopped using McAfee a while ago.
What OS are you using and hardware?
