McCanns going too far?

Even though I hate that song, I'd still buy it to help it get to number one, to help keep Maddy in everyone's minds.

Thats a nice idea. However..

That song would get rinsed and they'd end up rich off of it, which I think is a bit creepy tbh. If my kid went missing the last thing I'd think of is lets release a record.

I don't think anyone is going to forget the little girl anytime soon, we've had all forms of media rape the story for weeks now. Unfortunatly they seem to be ignoring what is likely to be obvious to most people now. She isn't going to turn up :(

But it's a matter of priority. The number one objective in all of this, which I'm sure nobody can disagree with, is finding the girl as soon as possible.

What's more important: Spending money on reminding the UK public to think about her or using it to organise search campaigns and material for use in the countries she has a possibility of being in?

Bingo.

If they refuse to let the media circus die down, the populace at general will start to get sick of them, hell I alredy am tbqh.

They need to lower their profile here, and spend money on actual useful projects, rather than setting up a cash cow and more distastful PR work.

Isn't the idea that all proceeds go to the Find Maddy fund? When Maddy turns up (hopefully allive) all that money will be going to another charity.

I dunno - remember that Swiss girl who was kidnapped and help captive for something like 14 years...

While they are so busy fund raising, making sure she isn't forgotten etc. etc. it stops them having to sit down and face the cold hard reality that if they'd done their job as parents correctly she wouldn't have been abducted in the first place. May be it's the only way they can deal with the guilt.
I feel sorrow for them and anger towards them in equal measure.

Yeah, I'm sure that'll happen, they'll just hand the money over. What if she's never found? Why exactly do they need a HUGE fund?

14 years. Do you think releasing a record might've made a difference?

They were irresponsible parents, it's bitten them in the ass. The little girl is the unfortunate victim in all of this. The parents should do what they can to find her, but they should not be making a quick buck - and at the expense of throwing the story in my face everywhere I turn. It was fine for a few days. I got the message. Now it's just irritating.

To be honest, trying not to sound harsh, I think the more 'money raising' that goes on, the more people in general are going to start suspecting maybe a little more than just an abduction is going on.

They don't currently need this money, all it's being used for is cruising around the globe free of charge at the moment as far as I can see.

Not sure why they need to raise *more* money. Last I heard they had nearly £750k in the fund.
£850K.

This is utterly ridiculous.

I'm sure every single one of us would do EVERYTHING we could if it was our child .
Including re-releasing a 1990s song? Come on, almost every case of child abduction doesn't get this kind of coverage, the only reason they can get into a position of re-releasing a song is because of the media whoring they've done.

My guess is they'll push parliment for "Mads law"
A law that enables negligent parents to make millions off the abduction of their child?

Well giving up looking for her sure as hell didn't help

Where are you supposed to draw the line? One month? One year? 10 years?

When will it be time to let go, move on and mourn for the loss. Whether they're dead or simply not coming back? If they do turn up, it's marvellous but searching for 14 years will do nothing. The world is a huge place, within a year the missing person can be literally anywhere on the planet. It would be like trying to find a specific grain of sand on a beach. It would send the searcher insane. It would be better to accept that they will probably never return and begin the healing process.

A bit premature for the Mcanns to give up yet, but a time will come.
