This sounds realy dumb but i'm away from home and need some free wifi to access my home email as works won't let me. The local mcs offers this but the 1st page asks for a user name etc.. but i can't see anywhere to sign up.

Can anyone help?

I'm such a wifi n00b. :(

What email provider do you use?

I guess your works has blocked external email sites??

I've got around this by using the web address for the mobile phone interface version of the email provider, that slips under the radar ;)

ask the store manager?

I have not used Macdonalds but if it is anything like Starbucks then you ask for a voucher when you buy a coffee. The voucher lasts for 30 minutes I think.

Our local Mc D's are part of BTOpenzone, in which case you can sign up for a btopenzone account at home i beleive and use it when you are out and about.
Does anyone know if the could and btopnezone have merged? as that would explain mdjmcnally's post?
Strange for one McDonalds to have one and another to have another. You would think it would be a national rollout jobby.

Alternativley just tunnel, DNS, ICMP, UDP... theres an array of tasty protocols ripe for the transmitting of packets ;)

I've seen Open Zone and Cloud branding in the past, but last time I made use of my wifi bolt on it was cloud at McDonalds and it took me to the registration page, entered my mobile number and it was all good.

When it asks you for user/pass, you just click on the big mcdonalds logo and it lets you on iirc.

Went in today and this is what I did and it logged me on fine.

It asks for a name, postcode, and email address, and then you're free to use it.
