McDonalds

less fat than the average subway? rubbish lol. 490 calories, 30g's of fat in a bigmac WITHOUT fries, 425 calories and 20grams of fat in a 6" italian BMT.

you're delusional if you thing mc'd are healthier than subways.

...it's not always so clear cut and to be honest, whilst Subway may be healther than McDonalds, it's not exactly good by any stretch of the imagination - I wouldn't pick it over McDonalds purely on the basis health. No idea what a 'salt equivalent' is and whether it is any more or less healthy than actual salt though.

No this doesn't make fantastic bodybuilding food AT ALL if you know anything about nutrition and exercise. :) And since it's something I know more than a little about you can rest assured I shan't be touching McD's or other fast foods, just as I haven't for the past 6-7 years. :)

What does your diet broadly contain FF?

i know, but remember he did say meal;) strangely enough, the steak and cheese sub is far healthier than the chicken & bacon ranch....which is fine by me :p

I suppose then it depends on what you class as a meal, if I was going to Subway, I don't get crisps/cookie I get a 12" sub instead of a 6".

At McDonalds' large fries won't double your totals in the same way a 12" sub would.

NI for Large Fries is:

Energy (Kcal) 460
Protein (grams) 5
Carbohydrates (grams) 60
of which sugars (grams) 1
Fat (grams) 23
of which saturated fat (grams) 2
Fibre (grams) 6
Salt (grams) 0.9

So a fair few calories and lots of carbs but not much saturated fat and more fibre.

Swings and roundabouts.
edit - steak and cheese is healthy because they give you virtually no steak, might as well be a cheese sandwich :p

+1.

that's not a meal, thats being a ***** pig. and yes ive done it more than once :P :D

That's still 50 grams of fat easily, there is no way that the average meal is healthier than a subway lol. as far as burgers go, the big mac isnt actually that bad. not compared to the big tasty with bacon anyway lol. 56g of fat, 23 saturated, 885 calories. Then you have chips. You could compare that to your 12 inch sub lol

...because cheese is healthy? lol

big picture should be looked at here. fast food is low cost food. low income families to save money will feed kids this stuff all week as its convenient and cheap. kids get fat, grow to repeat the trend with their kids as its all they know.

mcdonalds is awful food as is most fast food outlets. its forgiveable for someone who would eat once or twice a month as a treat or an emergency. i wouldn't eat it at all, but i can accept people do. however , there are people out there who eat it all the time because they are fed it everyday and there are people who choose to eat it as their diet because they themselves have grew up on this kind of food and don't know how to make any simple wholesome meals themselves.

its these kind of people who breed the most, and in 50-100 years time, forget about it. future is destined to be dominated by the lazy and the fat who don't think or question authority and are 100 percent reliant on the government and places like mcdonalds to feed them and their children.

look at how it was 30 -40 years ago compared to today, and guess what it will be like in the same space in time from today to 50 years from now. it IS getting worse, but slowly , and as previous generations who knew better will have died off, so would their wisdom too.

soil to spoil all your arguments, but the bottom line is some won't eat it because you are too stuck up to even try it, some wont eat it because you don't like it, some won't eat it because they think even having one a month is bad, some will have it occasionally as a treat and they like it, some like it a lot and have it lots, some adore it and have it every day.

Fact is if you lead a healthy lifestyle, get exercise have your 5 a day etc, I bet you could have a large McDonald's meal for dinner once a week and it wouldn't have a negative effect on you. And of course never having it will never have a bad effect, every day would be silly, same as you wouldn't have an 8oz steak every day though.

Im confident I know more than the basics as well, and having one every so often has no negative effects what so ever, as for body building food its not great but its not too bad if you havn't eaten your target calories.

If you read the labels the nutrition (although not great quality) is still pretty high, minus the salt that is.

Edit - and for all the people worrying about the fat, there are high fat diets that are used to lose weight, its actually the carbs that need to be watched.

the negative effect is , you not knowing there is one.

As long as your diet is good, having one McDonalds every now and then is not going to harm you in any way. I have one every other week and has not done anything negative to my progress in the gym.

Where did all the "unhygenic" comments come from. If you actually bother to look, you'll find that most Maccys get 4 or 5 star rating by the local councils.

You cant blag those rating either, as the local council visits are unannounced, by the time you realise your getting audited its too late to fix anything that will be detrimental to your score.
