Hi,

Wasn't sure whether to put this here or in gaming, but thought it would get read more here.

I am building a new PC this weekend. That will occasionally be used for office work, a lot of web browsing and quite a lot of gaming.

Just wondering how MCE compares to XP (Pro) in terms of gaming as in the future I am hoping to use this same PC as a media centre.

Does MCE have RDP client?

Cheers,

ICE

MCE is Windows XP Pro with the MCE application included, so everything you have with XP Pro you will also have with MCE. It comes with Remote Desktop client but then again so does XP Home and it's a free download for other MS OS's.

So providing I'm not using any of the MCE while gaming, there shouldnt be a hit in performance?

And just to confirm, it's based on Pro not Home, yeah?

Cheers,

ICE

Although Media Center is based on Windows XP Professional, Microsoft has disabled its ability to join an Active Directory domain post install. This effectively precludes the use of Media Center in a corporate environment. Media Center still retains most other Windows XP Pro-specific features, such as Remote Desktop and the Encrypting File System...
More here

The MCE part is an application which you run and therefore does not have any impact on performance when not running and it is definately XP Pro (joining domains excluded).

Thinking about getting this myself as I recently bought an XBOX 360 and this would work nicely with it.
