Right, got a little problem.
Have bought the Hauppauge 500T card and have it installed. Got all the channels displaying; seems to record and pause/rewind etc very well. The problem is in the EPG (Electronic Programme Guide); its just very very sluggish!!!! I mean navigation and changing channels - it updates with no problems, it is just really slow to move around and change channels compared to my freeview box.
I had planned on doing away with my freeview box and use the Media Center, althoguh with performance like this I think not. It is a bit sluggish changing channels too. The guide is downloaded with no problems, but just movement between the EPG pages is terrible. Even movement between the items on the first page.
Now, want to run the spec past you as I think a hardware upgrade may make a slight difference. Problem is I do not know what needs changing and only have limited funds.
Right, I am running Windows Media Center 2005 - with the rollup 2 and all updates. The motherboard is an ASUS K8V-VM SKT 754 onboard VGA 6 channel audio mATX. Sempron 2800 chip. Machine has 1GB ram and is using built in graphics. TBH, its not a great spec but as a media center works like a dream for standard video, music etc. If I was to put in a seperate display card which is a bit beefier is this going to make a difference to changing channels/epg movement. Or do I need to change processor/motherboard? More RAM???
Oh, one last question. Is this spec okay with Vista Media Center?? For MCE2005 it plays all films, music etc with no problems and it will even play a 720p .avi which is 8GB with no stutter.
Any assistance would be appreciated, cheers
