Hi, this is my first post here ...

My MCE 2005 based systems has a Compro DVB-T200 TV card with latest drivers. I am running the latest nVidia GFX and Chipset Drivers too, as sound :)

Running the compro program i can get signal, as can i in media portal, but not MCE :(

I have gone through the wizard, selecting all 3 different transmitters, nothing found after scanning :(

On a previous MCE install, I had all channels, so know it works somehow :/

One thing niggling in my mind is the bit where u choose set top box, arial, cable etc as your input doesnt appear, so im wondering if that part is setup wrong ... but cant find how to get that ...

Any ideas, guides or step by step walkthroughs to fully setting up TV from scratch ?

Thanks :)

PS - all my videos work, DVDs, music etc... just no damn TV

This is the only problem ive had with MCE really, and it happens every format, but something im doing must get it working eventually... just dont know what lol

Rig -

AMD Sempron 2800
Asrock K8NF4G
nVidia 6100 IGP + Onboard Sound
Compro DVB T-200
Hdds etc etc

Used MCE2005 for a good few days and was amazed at how rubbish it was as a media centre (not playing mp4's properly, srt & embedded subs not working, browsing of shared music/videos on server in ridiculous way ie you MUST add them to a single list:rolleyes: , loads of the best audio codec’s not properly decoded and some not even supported at all ...etc etc

Gave MediaPortal a try and have never looked back, plays absolutely everything I throw at it and properly I might add!! FAR FAR better piece of code for a media rig imho.

I still use the MS remote though with mediaPortal! At least they got something right

not a fan of MP - its a reasonable alternative, but i find it too clumsy... i agree, it has better support of different formats etc, maybe better codecs (well you can use any - so it must have lol) BUT i prefer MCE for its ease of use, i find it faster, and its easier for others to pick up and use - i can tell my mother how to find her favourite CD or whatever, and she can, she cant in MP...

i want to stick with MCE atm, but this niggle annoys me :(

I wonder how the Vista MCE will come along - looks nice :)

i dont like how each windows just becomes more bloated though ... why not optimise speed, secuirtiy and looks, without adding more useless junk such as remote assistance, search crap, backup stuff... if people want those, theres plenty of 3rd party (freeware AND to pay for - all better than MS) ...

i agree,

re mce and your card, all i can think of is to
1)update drivers you've probably done this
2) remove it completely from software and do the reinstall again(of the drivers)

sorry i'm not much help, but mce doesnt seem to realise a card is installed

Hey mate if you hit Ctrl Alt Del and bring up your task manager, look for a process called reciver (or somthing similer to that) and end it (there may be more than one), do it a few times as it will re-appear. Start up MCE and go through the set-up again, you should be able to choose, antena, cable, box etc at the beginning of the setup again.

As for you card, does MCE not see it when you choose Antena as your signal source?

If you are using an external ariel is it Wide band and if it's a set-top ariel try changing it's position (MCE is really fickle when it comes to set-top ariels), sometimes when it rains if you don't live in a good signal area and your arile does'nt have a high enough gain you might not find any services.

Hav you got all the latest windows updates for MCE? I have the same card as you and it worked fine, then decided to stop working properly after an MS update, telling me I had no tuner installed. When I checked the windows updates there was another update which, after a restart, fixed the problem.
