OK, I've had a helluva weekend trying to get a Hauppauge Nova-S working with Media Centre for watching Sky's Freesat service and failing utterly! A fresh install of MCE, editing the Reg, 3rd party patches and apps all over... I just gave up in the end!!!

What I have is a Sky Minidish with the F-type connector coming into the house (research on electronics websites leads me to believe that's what it's called- it's the one with a locking nut on the end?) and want to plug that directly into my HTPC.

I used to use a Hauppauge PVR150 and my Digibox using a convoluted set-up and the I.R. Blaster but the Digibox pegged it and I was never that pleased with the quality either.

Now, ideally I'd like to still get Sky's Freesat from the minidish as I forked out £20 ages ago for one of their cards. However, if I can only get Freeview then that's fine.

What I'd like is a card that works with MS MCE 2005 directly- no 3rd party apps, is priced under £60 (but the cheaper the better!) and can go in a PCI slot?

Thanks

WinTV 1300 user here... and it works very well.

I've got the MCE edition (only difference being is that the MCE edition comes with the microsoft media centre remote, non MCE edition comes with a regular Hauppauge remote).

I didn't use the drivers that came on the disk, and downloaded the ones off Hauppauges website instead - but this is simply because I'm running under Vista Premium (32 bit... as this card doesn't work in 64 bit yet).

I'm thinking of grabbing a second card to do that whole watch one channel record another malarky.

Sounds good, thanks for the reply :)

So that's just straight into the Minidish direct? I'll have a hunt round for that then!

Cheers

(PS- love you signature :D )

Is it possible to get free-to-air channels straight off the satellite dish? I thought they still needed to be unscrambled and that you still needed to use a card? Nikebee - are you plugging the card directly into the satellite?

Just of curiosity I finally got round to connecting the roof aerial to my TV and tried the built-in Freeview- could only get the standard 1-5 channels. So I tried installing the old PVR150 and connecting that to the same aerial- same channels.

So I suppose if there's no way of connecting my Minidish directly to the PC I'll have to get a signal booster and use the roof aerial.
