mce or xp pro

hi i am sure this has been asked before(cannot find what i want to know through search)
i have got an xbox 360 and want to stream movies music etc from my main pc which is running xp pro, do you have to use mce or is their any software that will avoid me changing operating systems but still give me the full functions of mce?

If you want to stream movies then I think via MCE is the only way.

Pretty good when its set up though, used in conjunction with something like Transcoder to watch Divx files etc.

i thought it would be the case but did not want to spend on an operating system again

MCE is great fun, well worth it imo, ya can always sell your copy or XP with license
