I'm considering buying an iPod Nano at some point in the near future and I'd like to be able to host the mp3's I purchase on my PVR/HTPC desktop, then play them through the MCE2005 front-end. Is this possible or will I need to find an alternative service for legal downloads?

MCE uses the WMP10 library so you'd have to transfer your files into the WMP10 library. There is an app called musicbridge which allows you to sync your itunes & WMP10 libraries, so you may be able to use this to do it.

Search for an MCE application called 'HPTunes'. As long as iTunes is installed on the MCE machine, it will allow you to play your MP3s or even protected AAC files via the front-end.

Thanks Downie that's exactly what I needed. I don't think musicbridge will do what I want as I don't want to touch the actual protected AAC files. :)

Just google HPTunes. Looks like a promising little add-in for MCE. Might have to give it a go as I prefer organising my music in itunes rather than WMP10.
