MCE2005 upgrade to XP Pro

Just brought a new Sony Viao laptop.
Preinstalled with media centre 2005, Can i upgrade this to Xp pro? using a XP Pro upgrade disc.

It is built around XP Pro, only difference is you get disc 2, which contains the MCE gui.

Ability to add to a domain is probably the biggest (apart from some earlier copies apparently that had that function still)

and if you're desperate you can reinstate the missing features anyway, but that then places restrictions on the mce bit.

I was under the impression it was the only thing removed, are there any other features not present in MCE?
