MCITP-e replaced by MCSE

The new MCSE isn't a replacement for MCITP:EA, it's a separate certification. The MCITP certifications haven't been retired by Microsoft, and given that Windows 7 is only 3 years into it's lifecycle, I can't see Microsoft withdrawing certifications for it yet.

You are right about wanting to reconsider your certification plans, though. Having MCSA and MCSE in use again is certainly going to cause confusion for recruiters - I imagine getting a new MCSE will look much better to these people than an MCITP, purely out of familiarity!

Old MCSE != New MCSE.
Old was Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, new is Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert.

Only in Microsoftland can you can the same acronym meaing two different things!!

It's basically to get certifications in as part of the Cloud drive.

Check out some of the digital MMS sessions for some really cool stuff, personally recommend the following:

AM-B315 SharePoint As a Workload in a Private Cloud
AM-B307 Application Management: Configure and Deploy Applications in Private and Public Clouds
AM-B319 Managing from the Cloud
AM-B309 System Center and Windows Azure, Part 2

Well I'm planning on gettign MCITP:EA this year and as a result from what i've read so far I'll get the MCSA:Windows Server 8 automatically on qualification apparently.

Correct you do - it's just showed up on my transcript.

I think it's because most companies have no idea what the hell a MCITP: EA is and are still looking for MCSE's.

It was mad to change it in the first place IMHO.

When you pass those three server exams, you will achieve both MCITP:SA and MCSA. You can then take the 70-640 and 70-647 to get MCITP:EA or take the 70-246 and 70-247 for MCSE: Private Cloud. The exams are unchanged, so the material you have is still relevant.

Upon further research, Microsoft certification is going down the lines of Cisco certification in that the likes of MCSE will have to be renewed every 3 years.

They kinda do now anyways - with each new version of Windows coming out means a new set of certs!

I'm an NT4 / Windows 2000 / Windows 2003 MCSE and I've given up and trying to keep up.
