Has anybody had issues using a different sim in an ex contract phone? I've recently bought a used s8+ which was advertised as unlocked but it turned out it used to be on EE, I put my virgin sim card in, and a message pops up saying enter the unlock code. I've never had this issue before. I unsuccessfully tried 3 times and it barred me and now says enter the network PUK code. I can't use the phone to make calls or use mobile data etc until I enter the correct code. The seller contacted ee and they gave him a code to try, but it hasn't worked. EE have said they will send another code to unlock it but it could take up to 10days. I really hope it works because I really don't want to send it back as it's in mint condition. Will this new code they send be the master unlock code or defreeze code?

I went through this recently. EE send a 16 digit code, but it's actually 2 codes:

8 digits are MCK (used to unblock too many failed attempts)
8 digits are NCK (used to network unlock the phone)

Thanks for taking the time to reply. This might come in use for future reading as I've read on other forums this is a very common problem, and the process has to be done perfect the first time otherwise it won't work, so I'll just say this. I've received my code and successfully unlocked my phone. I was sent a 16 digit code where I had to enter ONLY the last 8 digits on the first screen, press enter and an 'unlock unsuccessful' message shows, ignore this message it's a bug. Go and then enter the FIRST 8 digits ONLY, press enter and the phone will fully unlock. For some reason, once I entered the last 8 digits in the first step, it said unsuccessful but I heard this is a bug and once I entered the next lot of The first 8 digits, its unlocked.
