Hey all,

I'm looking to get on with getting some extra certifications now and first port of call for me is the windows server 2012 exam.

Can anyone suggest me any learning resources other than CBT? I've been looking for books and I believe this one may be one of the best for the job?

If anyone can suggest any others please let me know?

Thank you :)

I normally go with the official course books. I then build a Hyper-V lab (I prefer VMware personally but the exam covers Hyper-V as well so you may as well get used to it and practice on it).

Useful information and advice:

If you've never done any of the exams before then I'd recommend going and doing the client (Windows 8.1) exam as you'll have much more experience with a client and getting used to how Microsoft asks questions on a subject that you'll have much more experience with is a good idea. Also in the Windows 2012 exam you'll be asked client questions so if you've already learnt them from the client then you'll be in a better place in the server exam.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me! Will take a look at that link now and find the correct book for the windows 8.1 exam!

It'll be interesting to see how the exam changes when 10 is released! I find 10 much easier and more 7 like to navigate!

When you say you built a hyper v lab... would it be worth me buying an old poweredge server to run this stuff on, or could I load my pc out with 32gb and hope for the best with virtualbox or similar?

Thanks again :)

Have a look at ITProTV (30% off link here: http://join.itpro.tv/ww/).

I used them a lot when doing my 70-411 exam and you get a free key for practise exams each month and access to virtual labs etc.

Well worth doing for a couple of months just to make sure you pass!
