Hi there, I'm looking for some opinions.

My new job have offered to send me on a course and put me on some microsoft exams. I currently hold an MCSE and I've been looking at my options.

As far as I can tell, if I wanted to go for Enterprise Administrator I would need to pass Exam 70-649 and Exam 70-647. On top of that it says i need a client exam, but as it happens, for part of my MCSE I took Exam 70-620 (Vista) so would I only need to take 2 exams or can 70-620 only count once?

My other question is more fundamental, should I consider leaving my MCSE as it is and gain MCITP: Database Administrator 2008, or Sharepoint? This would be a new area for me so perhaps more worthwhile...?

Thanks

Same position as me, company are thinking of upgrading me.

I took the W7 client exam as part of the MCSE because I knew this counted towards the MCITP. So yes 70-620 counts toward the MCITP.

The vista exam can be used instead of windows 7, so you'd just need to take the (70-647) Windows Server 2008 Enterprise Administrator.

Are these areas something you're currently doing or are you looking to move ?

Pretty sure I'd need 70-647 and Exam 70-649, at least, according this this page - http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/cert-windowsserver.aspx#tab2

My role is managing AD (soon to move to 2008 r2) for the EMEA part of our business but the SQL guy is more and more involved with other things so there might be a gap there to exploit...i'm going to end up doing both i think :p

yup you need to do 70-649 and 70-647, along with the client exam which you already have to update your MCSE to an MCITP EA.

Thanks all - boss has booked me in, should have it in a few months and then i'll look to do some sql stuff early next year :)
