MD looking into Aston DB9, other options available?

What about an Audi rs5? Def got that GM look to the car, but being an audi it will mean to have to drive right up the **** of the car in front whilst on your mobile phone :p I jest

Although compared to a DB9 its a bit 'meh', and there are def better cars for the money.

Overall quite a lame suggestion on my part :o

Jaguar XK would be on my shopping list.

edit - oooooof !!

Jag XK. Certainly get a newer one for the same price as the Aston, still stunning looking and comes with a juicy v8. IMO a massively underated car.

I genuinely don't understand this. Would anyone in their right mind really go for an XK over a pre-reg XKR for literally an extra few grand? Is there a fault with them like some bone-shaking ride because it's the 'R'?

Its so amusing isnt it, its as if some people give 'advice' without even making a token effort to relate to the person the car is for. I mean... a Lotus Carlton, thats really going to appeal to somebody tempted by a DB9 isnt it? I bet Aston dealers are fed up of losing potential sales to people who chose instead to buy a really fast but really really old Vauxhall.

I genuinelly think some people read a thread like this and, bizarrely, interpret it not as 'Please spec my boss a car' but 'Please type the name of the first car you can think of into your head'.

btw i was the first in the thread to recommend a Jag XKR so i dont think im that far from the mark...

note i did say if he wanted to go mental...then he could consider going for a Carlton.

i did see a really nice Merc 6.3 (badged) v12 yesterday and thought, damn thats a nice motor, maybe the MD would like to be seen in that.

Becuase many buyers just want a wafty Jag Coupe?
Isn't that what the XKR still is though? I thought it was like the difference between the DB9 and the DBS, ie, just faster and a slight tweaks with a few extra options. Didn't think it was anything other than a comfortable GT coupe?

The XKR is certainly a more hardcore approach - look at the typical new XK buyer. Most are older company directors, etc etc. The R doesnt appeal.
