MDA PRO anyone flashed it with a non T-Mobile Rom?

Seeing as mines getting on a bit i thought id see if anyone here has installed a Non T-Mobile rom?

Im using the latest Rom from T-mobile and while ok its not the best by a long shot im sure.

Before anyone says it ive looked on XDA developers and while there is a lot of imformation there none of it is complete and no one really wants to answer your posts directly, more direct u to another post!

So if there is any roms that are better performing ? better features then i would appreciated a guide on how to go about it.

I believe Qtek and Jasjar make the best roms?

Yes its possible to use other roms, i have and it worked fine nothing broke and it even worked a little quicker, i couldnt get rid of the tmobile stuff quick enough. Now i've sent it back though i reflashed it tmobile before they got their hands on it

I didnt think they minded if non t mobile roms were on there if u needed to rma it?

I wasn't taking ny chances, i'd rather they didn't know than them tell me i'd tampered and voided the warranty. Whats another reflash worth when i can't get the blummin' thing fixed!

so you say it was only a little quicker?

One thing i did notice is that with the t mobile if you let it customize at the end when it loads the t mobile cab after the rom flash then the battery just dies at around 30% with no warnings or anything where as if you hit reset before it gets chance to load the t mobile cab then the battery lasts much longer...

Mine went from saturday morning to sunday lunchtime with normal use flashed it the proper way and the battery lasted from 10pm yesterday to 8pm in the evening

Yeah i've never let any of the roms run the extended setup, definately worth a restart before they install...

Been thinking about this myself for a while. My Vario is just too damn slow sometimes.

I think I'll give the 'reset pre customisation' bit a go before I try re-flashing.

i have a varioII, if i cancel the tmobile software load i lose all my web+walk settings. is there a way to get them back?

You just change them manually like you would with any other phone, i think you can even get the settings on the t-mobile website somewhere.

how about getting back the mms folder and the option to change the function of the soft keys?

I've not got mine on me atm, so i can't comment, not too sure what mine is missing if i skip the t-mobile stuff. I found it perfectly usable though and much faster.

yeah i found mine faster but found the lack of a mms folder and un able to change the soft key funtions quite annoying....

BUt i might go back to it as the battery lasted tons longer mine turns off now at around 40% for what ever reason. I dont even get a low battery warning
