me and the customer updating the website

im looking for free way for me to update a website, as in replace the files. I have downloaded SmartFTP but didn't know how to set it up, so thought before i do, i'd ask if there are any better ones.

I also want something that will allow the owner of a website im making to update whats on the page, and also create new ones if this is possible?

finally, though im not too clear on what she really wants, but is there a way in which i can have a small calander picture on a website, that if you click on the date it will load stuff saved for that date. she is a horse riding teacher and wants to be able to put stuff like homework etc set for a date, and make it so that she can update whats on thre, and if a student wants to click on the calender can see homework dates, event dates etc.

another thing i need help with, i have managed to get my site to display the favicon when its being viewed in FF only on the tabs, but when i bookmark it the image isn't there. what needs to be done so it there?

Im not one for "picking" at people, but you seem to constantly undertake work which you have no idea of how to do yourself, and continue to use this forum as a free resource/answer to all your "gaps" in knowledge. Hardly fair on the client if he/she is paying for your services.

it's ok, your allowed your opinion. I guess i should have explained a bit better, im still new to this web building and this website im talking about is for my dads girlfriend and is a project for me to learn this stuiff, how else would i learn? i thought this is how everyone else here started, find a friend who wants a project then build it for them, even though you obviosly don't know how to do the work you find out and learn. I turned to OcUK as i know theywill know the best software for this rather then google which will give me the million out there and i get stuck with rubbish ones. she isn't paying for this, it's all for me to learn new stuff which i am and sometimes i get stuck and need advice. sorry for the confusion. this is like when i first bought/brought (not sure which) a new computer from OcUK and had to build it. I didn't know exaclty how to build a cmoputer from scratch so i asked for help for the so called gaps in my knowledge

i looked into wordpress the other week for another site as i heard about it a lot, but i didn't understand as the look of it was not of my site. I guess you must be able to tget different styles or something?
