Ok I currently have ME and DA. I've never completed either of these games.

I have 11 days off this month and I'm not playing any MMOs so I figure I'll play one of these. I don't mind getting the 2nd in the series to play but out of the above 2 what would you play and why?
Thanks

Guess the big question would be...fantasy or sci-fi?

I've played both series and prefer ME 1 & 2.

DA has a fairly decent addon package with DA:Awakenings so I'd opt for it. I really enjoyed ME1 but found ME2 to be far too similar but shorter.

Don't know about anyone else, but i found ME1 unplayable with kb/m, especially the vehicle bits. ME2 was finer though.

Both great games. You can't really compare the two. Personally i just prefer ME + ME2, but only by a tiny bit

That is it.
Personally, ME all the way (I wasn't keen on the look of DA even from the trailers. Besides, TES fills the fantasy gap better than most things).

I don't even like sci-fi but Mass Effect 1 & 2 (specially number 2) are master pieces, so I would definitely say Mass Effect. DA is also a great game, I'm not enjoying DA:2 too much though.

Thanks for the replies. See I've played ME for a fair few hours. Just got off where you start exploring planets which was cool.
DA I played for around 10 hours before. I enjoyed them both equally to be honest.

Now to work out best classes and stuff as in 11 days I should be able to complete a fair few of them!

^ ME1 tips to reduce boredom:

1. Instead of systematically scouring the galaxy map, go for missions as you receive them in your journal (and maybe the odd bit of exploration).

2. Don't bother with the collection quests (minerals/insignias...), unless you happen across an artifact/deposit and need some credits/experience.

Edit:
3. Forgot - play on veteran or below because combat on higher difficulties is not more difficult, it just takes a lot longer (with immunity spamming enemies and whatnot), and isn't the most fun thing in the world! ;)

Different types of game really, but both are fine titles.

In the end, I'd flip a coin. But whatever you do, start with ME 1, and not 2. I'm not sure it matters that much with DA.

The driving sections are infinitely easier with a mouse and keyboard, and almost became bearable. :D The console version was infuriating.
