We know the hazards that can befall retro gaming enthusiasts -- janky third party consoles and KIRFy handhelds not the least among them -- so it's nice to see someone put some real thought in their hardware. Available in retro-futurist red or sober, serious black, the RetroN 3 gaming system is compatible with your Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and SNES cartridges. And if that weren't enough for you (it seldom is, is it?) you can use a pair of the original controllers from either of those three systems. If that seems too awesome, it also packs its own wireless controllers. Available now for $70.

It might not look sexy but if i ever see one for sale i'll be getting it. Saves me from digging my old consoles out when i want a game on toejam & earl or super mario world!

Pretty interesting. Still I like the Wii's virtual console. If i wanted the real experience I would just buy a 2nd hand console. Some old cartridges can be really expensive

good idea but i dont think the snes would be very good without the original snes gamepads due to the lack of shoulder buttons on what are clearly megadrive controllers that come supplied.

personal opinion though is that if you want retro but dont want the original console why not just get an emulator, maybe ok as a backup for the originals but i wouldnt take one over a working example of any of the originals and it also has the problem of needing the original carts which if you have them most people would own the console itself.

Expensive is an understatement! I'd say over priced.

Does this system play them how the snes ect would or emulate them lime that blaze system.

pfft the consoles are easy to find. its the games that are hard

my snes has been sitting in a drawer for years because ive got no decent games that i havent overplayed. same with mega drive in the loft
