Well I visited the states and to save on shipping it over here I grabbed myself a GS30-001US with dock :D

I am getting a Titan-X to slap in the dock and I have plans for things I can do with it  (new SFF PSU, water cooling etc)

Slight snag is that a during testing (stock, it was tested in the office) the motherboard went :( Michael Vo was kind enough to arrange a cross shipped motherboard but it too was not working (due to the time restricted nature of my request there was no time for testing it before shipping) so I have had to open a ticket for it here in the UK (Woot international warranty).

I did pick one up for my wife as well (without dock) so I can do some limited testing with that to see if everything is working ok.

I've also got a pair of 512GB samsung EVO drives to throw in there so it should be lightning quick :)

Gaming laptops I can understand but this... Is a PC with a tiny screen. Even given that you can take said tiny screen away and use it independently, I still can't quite get away from the thought you could just buy a PC and a basic 13" for the same money, with a good bit more performance

You can still connect it to a bigger display. I can see the appeal even if it is a bit crazy, the Titan Z is the part I'm struggling with in this instance.

Talk about overkill XD although I do love the idea of having a system that can be carried around for every day work and then when you get home can be put on the desk lid down, a few cables plugged in and your away with a monster gaming system. With a nice mech keyboard and nice screen. I think I will wait a while longer however and see what comes for the broader spectrum of laptops and not just a box that can work for one specific laptop.

I know you can get the pci brackets but in most laptops this renders the WIFI obsolete and means you need to run with the bottom cover off the laptop! I don't think a " elegant " solution for this problem will be around for at least a decade

No disrespect to the OP, I thoroughly enjoy his laptop threads and that's where his interests lie. You can indeed add an additional screen, but that's what you do with a PC, which is what I was getting at :p

My next tech purchase will be a pretty powerful laptop, probably around the time Star Citizen launches... It will definitely have a powerful GPU onboard, so I can, ya know, take that power with me conveniently:D

Meaker keep this thread upto date, I want to see what magic you can create :)

Will do. Any chance you can ask if there is an easy way of removing the plastic area around the power button. That has to be removed so i can get at the screws holding the 92mm fan in :)

I could unclip the top of the unit from the sides but could not remove it from the back, is there a knack to it? Is it possible?

Well this can be a little review of their repair service too I guess, it's in their hands after being sent using their UPS standard. Got the RMA detailed last Friday morning, they did not send me shipping label until Monday however. It was sent the morning I go the label and it arrived on Friday morning.

Can't really argue with that :)

In on the 17th Friday and out by the 21st seems very reasonable to me, now to wait for it to get back to me.
