measuring water flow... what can i use ?

unless you can get a swissflow SF800, dont bother... they're all too restrictive...

im afraid that would cost more than my entire water cooling kit :( id rather have some flow restriction and have a monitor than to be with out.

I think you have the BigWater SE, same as me, don't you ?

If so, Thermaltake do actually sell an inline flow indicator.

Personally looking forward to the day I can chuck this in another PC for the added silence and then get myself a complete custom kit :D

nooo, scrapping it, its performed really badly this summer, last few days my cpu has hit 50oC so im building myself a custom good spec water cooling kit with half inch pipes :D all for under £65 too

50C - What processor you using ?

50C is nothing for me to bat an eyelid at, but then I have a super toasty Pentium D 805 of Death.

In fact, I dont start hitting the 'slightly concerned' stage until my processor hits 65C (Dual Prime Load will get it to 63-65). I think I might hit the 'I'm a bit worried' stage at 70C, and 'Panic Stations' at 75C+.

Secondly - Custom kit for £65 ?!? WTF ? Go on, share your secrets ! :P

Just get the right pump - DDC Ultra is the best performing pump out there at the mo and has builtin RPM wire to connect to mobo to monitor flow. However, on it's own it costs almost the same as your entire kit budget. That's the only way to do it without hindering performance. The GOOD stuff that does what folks wants always costs... building a kit on the cheap always has it's drawbacks somewhere along the line...

I have one of these, just fit the correct size of bard on each end,

Please delete the link if this breaks the T&C for the forum, I posted the link as OcUK dont sell flow meters.

OcUK may not sell flow meters but they do sell many of the other items for sale on that site

S'not a meter tho, it's an indicator... a meter measures something. An indicator shows you something. All that shows is you have flow, not how much of it...

Hi
What you want is a Mcubed T-Balancer, its a small control board that connects via internal USB sockets, you control fans, temp probes etc and are able to connect a flow meter, which you can set so that if the flow of water drops below a set rate, your pc switches its self off..
Do a search in Google.
Hope this helps.

The mCubed's FlowMeter reduces to a 4mm jet down the middle and imposes MASSIVE flow restriction on a large bore setup. Cheaper just to get an SF800 and wire it up to CPU Fan Header fer £29...
