Just installed a mechanical hdd today into my rig and installed win 7 on it, after having a lot of issues with my ssd, (120gb vertex 2e bigfoot). Ill only be using this drive for a short time. Mainly to be able to see if my motherboard is ok. Ill be purchasing a new ssd and rma'ing the vertex. When i get the new ssd, is it ok to just use a disk image of the current install, or do a fresh install? New ssd will probably be a samsung 840 pro 120gb.

yeah just use the Samsung migration software that will come with your new ssd

put the hdd as the source disk and samsung as the target disk and clone it within windows, restart and set ssd as first boot device n that's it

install latest rst drivers after

Cheers wazza, been onto ocz support, listed all of the issues with the vertex 2e. Just waiting on an RMA number now. Been informed by my nephew that it can take a couple of weeks to go through the process. System feels so much slower going back to a mechanical drive, 5400rpm 2.5" laptop job.

Yup, installed windows a few hours ago, just reinstalling a few programs etc and it hasnt skipped a beat. I ran an hdtune error check on the ssd last night, threw up red sectors on the test after about 3/4 of the way through, followed seconds later by another blue screen. With the vertex in, most times it wasnt even detected on boot, in windows it crashed in anything from 3 seconds to 5 or 6 minutes.

the Samsung should be more reliable, the software works well for cloning, doesnt take too long

if ocz send you a new drive id sell it

Ill either sell it on, or possibly stick it into my second rig. It's pretty badly held back as it's using a 7 year old western digital 250gb hdd. That system is an i7 930 with an 8800gt and 6gb of pretty high end ocz reaper ram, an ssd and a gpu upgrade would give it a new lease of life.

Just got an email reply from ocz with an RMA number, theyve stated that they will replace the vertex 2e with an agility 3 2.5" drive with adapter plate. How do the agility series compare to the vertex range.
