So whole carcass minced, sieved washed in ammonia to kill bacteria, then re flavoured to cover the tainted flavour of the ammonia. Then the pink gunge is made into "food".

This is then made into alsorts of foods...like chicken nuggets, now ive eaten my fair share of nuggets in the past, but reading this they are just disgusting.

What's your thoughts people?

Hasn't this been known about by everyone for years?

It's not a fun process but then again if you look too closely into any kind of food preparation (especially that of meat) you are likely to find things that make you feel squeamish.

I generally don't eat anything like chicken nuggets, mostly because I know they're full of minced up ****.

On the flip side, just because something sounds grim, doesn't mean it is. People get freaked out by haggis, because 'it's a sheep's stomach and offal init. And a good haggis is an absolute delight!

Definitely and its delicious, let alone good black putting too, which is equally delicious but MRC just seems wrong.

And your right people know, and old new remains old news, but ewwww, still nasty.

It's just the same as pink slime.

Sausages have had hair, skin, etc. in them for years and years. Doesn't hurt anyone.

Fairly sure any half decent sausages these days don't have hair or skin in them (unless there has been a problem in the manufacturing process). I agree that skin isn't exactly a big deal though - it's not as if people balk at the idea of eating crackling.

Not too bothered. Would throwing away the otherwise perfectly useable carcass be any better?

Very true. Kind of amuses me that many (not all) vegan types try to use this sort of thing as a sensationalist way of putting people off meat when it's arguably ethically more responsible to use reclaimed/reconstituted meat than to just throw away edible food.

I actually feel better about eating reclaimed meat having read that snopes article :-) Thanks!

What confuses me, is that you don't seem to have actually read the entire article... i.e. the entire purpose of snopes you seem to have missed.

Where have you been for the last 5 years? You know, turkey twizlers? USA lawsuit? Jamie Oliver? School dinners? McDonalds Chicken Burgers etc etc etc?

in other news crops are grown in fields of cow poo if you've ever lived near a farmers field you will likely know the dreaded smell every summer when he sprays it

Grew up on a farm, the nitrogen and other natural ingredients in cow poo are much healthier than that pink ammonia goo.
