As topic says, was there anything ever released after Mechwarrior 4, either in the same battletech vibe or something real similar?

Remember enjoying these Mech games way back...

S** wee.

Couldn't ask for anything better (Cryengine and mech).

I hope this mod see's the day of light...

Microsoft canned MW5 IIRC. Shame, I used to love all those VL matches... Mmmm LBX10s in my Thor for ultimate in yer face fun!

That Crysis mod looks promising, although it seems they still need to get round to sorting texturing etc out. Not so sure on some of the models but we'll see :)

The last MW game I placed was MechCommander 2 which was a bit of a disappointment, really :(

Did I hear they were making a movie? Or was that just in a dream of mine cause that would be freakin awesome! I mean they've done Max Payne, and Hitman....?

movie would be awesome awesomeness awesomography! been wanting another mechwarrior game for PC ever since i finished the brilliant MW4/black knight/mercenaries! but never came :( instead we got crappy ones for the xbox, stupid microsoft! IIRC microprose were involved in MW3 and they died a while back, who else loves the intro to MW3, one of the best intros i have ever seen!

Edit: anyone use to watch the battletech TV series on a saturday? morning i think many years ago, man those were the days, better than Cbeebies!

They made the film years ago - look for robot jox and crash & burn.... ;)*

I would love for a new mechwarrior game, closer to the mechwarrior 2 games than mw4 was.

*Ok, so they weren't mechwarrior but did have big battle mechs, and some really ropey acting.

Robot Jox, awesome. Lets FLY INTO SPACE for no reason at all!11!one

MechCommander's intro video was pretty phenomenal, for its time, I had a full on robotic chubby when I saw that for the first time. MW2 was OK I suppose but it didn't really live up to the first one.

I never really felt the MW games surpassed MW2 and Mercs though, the graphics kept getting better but nothing ever matched the gameplay IMO, or the plot, or the mission design. Mercs was just sooooo good. "You WILL hold the line at Nav Alpha" :D So many hopeless stands, so many near wins, just awesome.

i prefer MW4 to be honest, i like the idea you can't stick a PPC in a missile rack, that was just stupidity :p

IIRC it was general purpose slots, some of them just happened to look like they were intended for missiles.

I miss being able to equip a mech with about 8 clan PPC's, half a dozen double heatsinks and have it shut down (or even go boom) after a single barrage.

The later games just didn't seem as much fun as MW2 (and expansion), or merc especially with netmech .
I've still got my original MW2 box, as one of the very few I didn't throw out, because I loved the game so much, and the artwork on it was basic but very good at telling you wnat it was all about (embossed madcat on a background of flames).

I wonder if it's possible to get mech2 to run now...

MW2: Mercs was the first game I ever upgraded to play properly, 16mb of EDO RAM  (Mechcommander was the second, I think that was some sort of cyrix processor)

Course, the real irony is that the board game is TERRIBLE.

i remember that, ha! my mate dave got an annihilator (MW3) just chucked so many clan LRM15s on the thing, there must have been about hundred and fifty missiles flying toward my mech! i made it a habit of using targetting system and clan ER large lasers and sniping his arms off and stuff, ER lasers made the game really easy at times!

another online game i had was a modded daishi with gauss rifles, saturating matts madcat as it came over a hill, he didn't even get a shot off, his mech just fell backwards on fire

Loki Missile boat with ECM and BAP for ultimate annoyance to others :D Jesus, I had so much fun playing MW4 on the Zone. I literally spend whole weekends trying out new configs.

For some reason i went from an in-your face skirmisher to a scaredy-cat missile boater or Madcat laser-boat lamer :) I followed that tactic in later games too, always choosing to be a sniper or something sneaky. *runs and hides*

this thread makes me want to install MW3 again.

didn't want to buy MW4 after they stopped legging.

Wut? You mean still being able to control the thing while a leg is missing? IIRC taking out a leg killed the mech in MW4 which I agree, is pants.

I always enjoyed tech games like mechwarrior, battletech and starsiege. Theres surely room for another in todays market. Great concept

Agreed, wish there were more games/similar games out there. I love the whole customize the mech, the more parts available, the better. Spending hours crafting the perfect mech for your playstyle ^_^

Mechwarrior one of my favourite game series :(

also liked Shattered Steel, Terra Nova and Earthseige 1/2

never really liked Heavy Gear

Ahh, there is a mechwarrior short movie made. Look up Mechwarrior Movie on youtube, cant remember who made it. It was some special effects school. Cant check youtube, its blocked at work :/.

As for MW5, there was a screenshot somewhere before it got canned by the muppets in favor of the Xbox game.

Its been too long since the last decent mech game came out. Its something that we could do with, too many ww2 games or FPS with gritty well armored soldiers in grittly brown and bloom fields.

the first game I ever had (Return to zork) came with a vid for mechwarrors Tribes or somthing like that
