I’ve been waiting for this one for a while, it’s looking pretty good to me. Only thing I’m not keen on is the Epic store. If you’re interested in stompy robot action then this should be a decent option.

can you elaborate on this please?

There was some saltiness over it being released on Epic rather than Steam. Toys were thrown from prams, mainly from the Mechwarrior Online community. Something about China stealing top secret secrets from peoples gaming PC's.

The beta is running now, I’ve been playing it co-op with some friends and it’s been a lot of fun so far. It has me excited for the full release.

Some footage that someone else has recorded. Plenty of other vids on YouTube and people streaming it on twitch if anyone is interested.

Same. Pouring money on epic store at this point just doesn't seem right. Do they even have 2-way verification for better account security?

Anyway I've been waiting this game for so many years one extra year does not make much difference.

Ben playing all other Mechwarrior games except the first one, and my all time favorite must be Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries.

Yes, Epic does have 2FA. I've just enabled it for my account. I'd have preferred a Steam release as well, but I want to play it, so that's what I'm going to do. And since I pre-ordered the game directly from PGI, I don't have to input any payment details into Epic. I'll just use it for MW5 and perhaps try a couple of their freebie games.

I’ve been enjoying it. It’s at its best when played co-op with friends, jumping in to each other’s campaigns to check out the latest mechs they’ve picked up, etc. The difficulty also scales up when playing co-op, which I like. It looks nice, and the gunplay is fun. The procedurally generated missions get a bit samey after a while, but some of the story line missions are really good. It’s lacking a bit on the mercenary outfit management side, the basics are there but they could have done more with it. It’s open to modding so that should be good and maybe they can flesh it out a bit where it’s lacking with DLC. If you like the Mechwarrior IP then I think it’s worth picking up, otherwise probably best wait for a sale, or for it to turn up on Steam if you hate Epic.
