Mechwarrior type games ?

Looking for some games like mechwarrior so far ive got:

All Mechwarrior games
Earthsiege 2 from 1995




Any suggestion ?
 
Hawken is multiplayer only though I think. You need a good storyline with a mech game.

There's Front Mission Evolved too, but I'v no idea what it's like. Looks a bit action over tactics by the vids :

 
Last I heard the Mechwarrior reboot got canned :(

I know what you mean though; I also enjoyed games like ES2 and MW2, and there's not been much like it for quite some time. The closest we've had have been Armoured Core, Steel Battalion (the xbox title with the massive, extremely expensive controller) and Chromehounds.

The Xbox MechCommander (or whatever they were called) were arcade take offs, and nothing like as indepth as the old sims.

It seems gamers either aren't as intelligent or the demand just isn't there anymore for games with this level of customisation and depth. Although some tweaking can be OTT, even basic customisation of core systems like ES seems to be a forgotten idea more or less these days.

I have Chromehounds, but I never got into it because I missed it's online heyday :(
 
Earthsiege 2 was bloody brilliant 16 years and still is in my opinion.Loads of different hercs and plasma cannon and flux weapon were ace loads of missions those were the days.Mechwarrior and mechcommander came close but didn't have that first person view like es2 had and almost none have that first person view all have horrid 3rd person view.
 
Mechwarrior 2 from memory was based 'in cockpit' just as ES2 was. Not sure if that changed for later version, but MW2 and ES2 were virtually direct competitors.
