Basically I want to build a media centre for the downstairs living room so we can stream media from the network and surf the web should we need to.

I need one speced up for the downstairs. Budget is £300 - £375. Nothing over fancy as bits a pieces can be added later on.

Your advice is more than welcomed.

Thanks in advance. :D

I personally would also add an Antec NSK2480 case + psu and Scythe Mini Ninja heatsink to give you a nice silent machine. Cost approx £110.

I went for a 785G motherboard because the onboard gfx (which have 128mb sideport memory) will be more than adequate for it's use and will save a signifcant amount of power over the year. The board is more expensive, but it is also more future proof and very well specced and featured should you decide to expand it's uses. Unless you game or have high end sound over hdmi requirements there is no benefit to a discrete card.

The samsung F2 drive is perfect for an htpc and very quiet.
