hmm i just noticed ocuk selling the Leadtek GeForce 8400 GS 256MB. for 36 quid
i was wondering if it would be ok to use in a media center based pc?

or will it be crap?

thanks for any help

Its perfect for a media center. It has really good HD support, takes the load of your CPU.

You won't notice a difference over your 6800GS unless you're multitasking heavily, my HTPC has onboard 6100 which I decided to use when I noticed my 7300GT did nothing noticeable. The X2 3800+ keeps up, even with 1080p.

The 8400 is better than a 6800GS, 7300GT or 6100, as it has Purevideo 2(HD) where as the others dont have any real H.264 support in hardware.

But if all your doing is viewing mpeg2 (dvds, freeview etc) then anything will do.

thanks for the help guys yea im thinking of viewing HD videos later on when
the combo drives become cheaper

hmm so the card i you will be ok for HD then. cool :)

hmm what format do you all thinks gonna be the winner?
BR-DVD or HD-DVD?

Let the flame war begin... xD
Right now they're on par and either could win =/
In the end I think/hope that HD-dvd will come out on top :P
