media center troubleshooting

Hi all,

Had my wife's friend bring her blokes Emprex media center around because it would not turn on.

I can't believe I am going to type this but....he says it's not the power cable because .... he plugged it in and licked it

checked fuse, no issues. Power connector to box is a weird PS2 style connector and I have nothing to plug it into to see if it works, but from his tingling tongue I'll say it does.

So, I have got my multimeter working, despite having no idea how to use it. Does anyone know what to I can check to try and trouble shoot this?

seems to have power coming in from the lead as the connectors beneath the mobo are showing a current, as is the connectors for the power switch.

So, you have power reaching the device but it will not power on? can you work out where the current is stopping?

Open up the box and check for popped capacitors around the where the power lead connects to.
