I'm looking at building a media centre based on the Vortexbox software which is freely available.
I came across the Overclockers thread linked below and build is very good and similar to what i was looking to do, nice one Bigsy!
I would use an WD Red instead of the SSD and would ditch the graphics as it would only be used for FLAC files.
I would also like to use the spdif out in preference to the wireless network.
With the Vortexbox software you can use either MPad and Mpod remote app which would be good.
My question then:
Using the Asus F1A75-I mobo could i output audio direct via the spdif into a DAC and use the MPod/MPad remote to play the music?
Is there any reason this won't work? I suppose its possible the Vortexbox software is set up for streaming only, but I'm unsure on that.
Vortexbox do something similar with the SOtM...
