Media centre on xp?

Can't use vista yet as I get terrible fps in games for some reason or another..

So what's the best media centre option for xp? (free or paid) Hopefully compatible with my remote control..
Primary use will be for my WinTV digital card, and then dvds/mpgs/mp3s.

Windows Media Centre Edition, believe it or not.

A normal edition of xp and media portal seems sufficient for a lot of people.

I'm not interested in buying another MS O/S... I think xp and vista is quite enough!

You could also try xp + GB PVR ( free )

I use it daily , I have a Hauppage NOVA-T 500 + PVR 350
It works great with the hauppage remote and you can set the timer via a web page for recordings if you are not home

I used GB-PVR for over a year, and then went the MCE route. MCE is more resource hungry, GB-PVR runs well on more modest hardware. The community that supports it is very active and really adds to the value of the software.
