Media centre video playing

When I pause a video I'm watching in Vista Media Centre, if I mimise media centre, restore it to it's window sized, or bring any other program up in front of it, it unpauses my video. I can't figure out how to keep the video paused so that I can do other things before coming back to watch the video. It hasn't ever done this before, what's broken now?
