Hi all

i've build a couple of pc's over the last couple of years.

bu i've been thinking about building a media centre so i can watch movies on the lcd tv etc.

i see ocuk sell some media centre style cases but what i was wondering is if someone could give me some advise on how they differ from building a full pc?

do i needs the same set of components i would for a full size pc, ie ram gfx card etc

and also how to u get on with operating it? would i have to plug in a keyboard when i wanted to play a film or other file i really have no idea how the whole concept works but it just seems like it might be better and give me a better end result than routing miles of svideo cable from my full pc to the tv.

any advise would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Loki

Basically a normal pc, just with more of a basis on silence than usual (for the most part anyway). The components you use would likely depend on what media you intend to use it for though (eg, HD, etc). In terms of using it, I dont have any experience myself but i'd assume you would just use a wireless media center keyboard or remote?

I was lazy, went for an Xbox running XBMC to go with my 32" Samsung. I don't have any HD media though so it seemed like the best option for me. Havent shelled out much money on it either so adding a htpc at a later date still isnt off the cards :)
