Media keys = Crash!

Got a strange problem with my PC!

Every time I press the volume up or down keys on my keyboard (saitek eclipse)it crashes! EVERY time!

It used to happen with mute as well but a windows re-install last week fixed every thing. Now it has returned! Although mute still works?

What happens is; everything still runs e.g. films, music or programs. And I can still move the mouse around but i can't "click" on anything?? And the task bar items don't highlight when i roll over them. So i have no control over anything!

Keyboard still works in a limited amount!

I have to hit the power button and reboot to get it working again!

Some games don't work properly any more either, Rainbow Six Vegas being the main one. when i walk and turn at the same time it goes slow and jumpy and starts randomly aiming all over the place!

Any ideas GREATLY appreciated as this is driving me mad!

Well the first thing that springs to mind are buggy drivers. Get drivers from the Saitek website if you have not done so already.

Can't really think what else could be causing the problem.

I Don't use any drivers.

This has worked fine for the last year BTW.

Just recently gone nuts!

I would suggest trying some proper Saitek drivers tbh, it sounds like whatever driver it's using atm (probably a microsoft version) has become corrupt.

With regards to the R6:Vegas problem, sounds like it's just the game. It is really poorly coded. But perhaps try re-installing graphics and chipset drivers along with DirectX to see if that fixes the problem.

Nah, didn't work properly when i first installed it. re-installed windows and it worked perfectly for a week. And now has gone mental at the same time as the other problem. i'm sure their related.

Anyhow, System restored to last week and all is fine again......for now!
