Media PC - Best software?

So the tuner failed/disappeared?

No, the tuner is still there, just that as has been hinted on, there could very well be ghost channels that pop in and out of signal.

This certainly does seem to be the most probable issue.

I need to have a proper play about with this idea and removing the extra junk.

In all honesty, I though that this was because I had 2 tuners... The thing is, that I have been using dual cards as well as single cards and even multiples ( WMC has a 4 channel limit on recording - I found that out not that long ago ) and I have seen multiple channels of ITV or BBC... I can go with things like BBC and then BBC Wales ( I am in an area that gets both ) but I do get multiples of the same channel.

What I need, is the ability for WMC to try recording and if it fails, to then try the othger channel that is the same, and remove that failed one... If this extra ghosting is the issue, then that will cure these issues for once and for all.

Oh, and when I used the Leadtek on its own, I never get the ghosting, and thats why I assumed the extra channels were the extra cards finding them, but then I suppose I should have 2 channels of EVERYTHING if that was the case?

Thanks anyway... Im still working on it as I get the chance... Im also playing with it on another Media PC for a bit, just becausae the main one is running fairly well at the moment... It failed to record some stuff as I said, but I have just removed those recordings, and selected them oin the other channel instead and so far, so good...

It could be that you are in range of two different transmitters, albeit one of them very weak. Some tuners may be more sensitive to this than others. This may result in the channel appearing twice.

The Edit Sources thing I mentioned allows you to watch the individual sources (specific frequencies and tuners) and also details the signal quality. This allows you to weed out any bad channels.

It is correct that Media Center by default only supports four tuners (of each broadcast type); which is probably plenty for most. But this limit is only in place to make support easier. It is possible to unlock this restriction and have 32 tuners!
