I recently build my own home pc with help for this forum ,so thanks very much :D

I am now building an Home Cinema room and want to spec a new PC specifically to play movies via Media Center, directly play Blue Ray discs and surf the net.

The PC will connect to a Panasonic 50Z80B which will be fitted into a fake chimney breast. The PC will be situated in the loft above the telly.

I know I will need remote Keyboard and mouse, some sort of remote power on switch, HDMI output card with surround sound to send the picture to the telly and the sound my 5.1 amp. Wireless LAN card to receive broadband from my router.
The Blue Ray player will need to be part of the PC but will not reside in the PC casing. IT will be located in the fake chimney breast with a long cable connecting it to the PC. This will allow me to load discs without having to go up the loft. Is this possible?

Can you help me with the spec and anything else thsat I may have missed.

thanks

alan

i recommend the Microsoft remote and keyboard..

power button on them puts them into sleep, wakes them up etc
all the buttons you need, all laid out nicely

microsoft remote is excellent but uses infrared (& keyboard) so you would need line of sight to the sensor at least (its a usb dongle so possible it could be in the room). RF technology might be better. BTC/emprex make a useful keyboard and philips make a rf media centre remote.

blu ray player cable may be an issue due to length retriction

lofts have huge temperature variations are you sure your happy for it to freeeze in winter and roast in summer?

thanks, will probably go for a Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse.

Any help on the actual PC spec, what should I be looking at to basically surf the net and run Media Center.
