I just got my hands on an Elonex Artisan LX medic pc :) for free :P

Has a p4 630, 512mb ram, 300gb sata, 16x dvd burner, 2 digital tv cards, wireless and wired network... seems fair nice!

oh and its all passivly cooled... uber quiet!

in the process of putting some media on it... wondering if anyone knows of anything better to use than windows media center... im not loving it :(

Any suggestions would be awesome! :D

(oh and some of the remotes buttons dont work, this confuses me... any ideas?!)

Thanks!!

Craig!!

You could try media portal, worth a try, but might stuggle on that system. I have recently moved from MCE 2005 to Vista MC and love it, much much better. I could never get on with media portal, just didnt run well.

Pinnicle have a good media software as do cyberlink, I personally use Tversity which is free, Not got a great front end but can be used on any computer Via the internet and network, Also the Xbox 360 and Wii can use it.

GB-PVR is excellent&free, and they have good user/support forums where you always get pretty quick responses

I'm in the process of building a MythTV setup right now and I'm loving it. It's just about perfect in its power, capability, customizability (not a word), and simplicity. It is, however, not for n00bs. You have to get your hands a little dirty to set it up and have it running just right, i.e. partitioning, formatting to JFS/XFS, installing from source or from a repo, etc.

EDIT: You should see if you can install a C2D on the motherboard you have. it would reduce temps and increase power significantly.
