No idea why or how this has happend, but all of a sudden today my Media Player is using 100% cpu power.

I have turned off visualizations and it's made no difference.

I can play a song for about 50 seconds and after that my usage shoots up to 100% which in turn makes my fans start spinning faster, so this problem is also obviously heating up my PC really badly as such as small application like media player shouldn't put any stress on the cpu at all.

The only thing i can think of doing is uninstalling it, and then reinstalling.

My question is, can anyone help uninstall media player please?

I have looked in the add/remove programs section, but can't find it.

As i said i literally have no idea how this happend, all i have done today is browse the web and play a demo of dark messiah and now i just wanted to play some music, and noticed my pc felt sluggish and realised what was causing it.

Thanks.

As WMP10 wasn't included with XP until MCE, it should show when you tick the 'show updates' box in Add/Remove Programs.

I don't think you can remove WMP from XP since it came with the OS. Microsoft dosen't tend to allow users to remove it's OS-exclusive content such as IE. Maybe you should try using WinAmp? Or any other quality Media Player.
