I've got the same problem on my LCD monitor - set to to 1280x960 and its looks squashed into 5/4 even though the OSD say 720x576 in, 1280x960 out.

On the resize page select "No Aspect Ratio Correction" :)

EDIT: note - this will make everything you view via FFMPeg all in 16:9 ratio.

As far as I'm aware you can set up profiles (I haven't done this myself), but you could have one with No AR Correction, and one for keeping the source AR.

still no go i'm afraid :( I've tried every setting and I still get it in the centre of the screen in origianl 720*576 rez. Could it be a nvidia driver setting?

Do your maths! it looks squashed because you've stretched part of it,that is not a 16:9 resolution. Try 1280x720

aah, see thats the 1280x1024 fault, I forgot that wasn't 5:4 so assumed 1280:960 was the 16:9 without double checking myself.

Oh and plus you have to use letterbox aspect ratio in Theatertek, else it keeps it at 5:4 as well!

Thanks - it works now, except my cpu can't keep up the settings recommended in that htpcnews article.
