Media player playback freezing

I've recently reinstalled vista32 and my media player has a problem, after 10 mins or so the video will stop, if i right click on the screen or open a menu playback resumes, any ideas.
The only other video software i have installed is divx, any ideas?

Which media player are you using?
What type of videos are you trying to play?

Is this on a laptop or a desktop? Could be something to do with power settings if you are being idle for 10 minutes.

Version is 11.0.6000.6352 on a desktop playing mpg's, avi or dvd's I'm on high performance power management setting, its not exactly after 10mins happens between 5 and 15 mins I would say. I've tried looking up on google but it brings up so many results and non seem to be my problem.

I assume that's Windows Media Player?

If so then try another player like Media Player Classic or VLC and see if they do the same. If not then you know it's a problem with Windows Media Player and so can try reinstalling that or something. If other players freeze too then something else is wrong.

yeah it is windows media player, ill try one of the others, dont have any problems in media centre, probably as easy to just use that.
