Just wondering what poeple use and why?
Currently I have;
WMP
VLC
DIVX
and quicktime-which i dont use unless I have to.

Basically VLC and WMP are my choice for viewing movies, but recently for some reason downloaed DIVX player, personally cant see a difference so just wondering what y'all use and why. I also don't like all the extra gubbance at the side of DVX.

I normally use WMP for everything because I normally have no reason to use anything else. I do have VLC for some videos when WMP gets arsey.

WMP for my mp3's, but as I'm slowly migrating to FLAC, foobar2000, despite it having a much less intuitive interface.

Video is always VLC.

Windows Media Player with K-Lite Mega Codec Pack installed. Plays everything on the planet. And thats all I need it do to.

VLC for all video -> Can play pretty much everything you can chuck at it.
WMP for all music -> I like the library layout.

I will never install Real Player, Quicktime or iTunes on my PC.

WMP with sharkys codec, plays anything I could think of and is very lightweight (also has x64 components so integrated easily into media centre on the HTPC). I also wont ever install real, quicktime or itunes, its all filthy and bloated.

Also ive got cyberlink powerdvd 7.3 for HDDVD/Blu-Ray

Hawker

VLC for everything, it's the features like adjusting audio/video delay on the fly that make it the best along with almost universal support.
However if I'm watching 1080p on my laptop, or even lower quality video on slower computers, I often end up using WMP classic because it has multicore support which VLC doesn't. 2.33GHz on a single core just isn't reliably sufficient for 1080p (my graphics is high-end 7 series unfortunately, so no hardware decoding).

vlc for mpegs ( cos it can play broken ones)

media player classic for everything else

codecs
real alternative
quick alternative
ffdshow
ac3 filter

GOM player for every type of videos, best feature about it? that once the settings activated, one can watch something, close it, open that film again and starts from that last point you left off! and also MPC HC for some mkv's, bought CoreAVC and use also CCCP codec pack and lastly Winamp for my music needs
