So I am, and have been for years a massive fan of MPC, but its now becoming annoying it has no in built equaliser and with limited control over my sub its very loud through it.

At the moment I'm using VLC, which really is just as good the picture ain't as good but I can live with that. The big annoyance with it is the pause facility, with MPC you can click on the screen and it pauses not with VLC.

Anyone got any ideas how to get round either one of them? Or even some other media player I don't know about?

Damn you MPC and no equaliser! :(

Doesn't space bar work for pausing videos in VLC?

Most likely, but I use my laptop hooked up to my TV which means I don't have access to it. I know it seems like such a small thing, but its a right pain. I think I just need to get over it.

In vlc right click brings up a menu.

You could try programming the mouse keys to emulate a keyboard action. MS Intellimouse software allows program specific customisation. I've not tried this.

Ahh, I've always kept my music and video playback separate. Winamp has been my loyal music player since 1999, but I never liked the idea of it playing videos, so I use MPC for that and use the EQ built in the soundcard software.

Same here

winamp lite for music

mpc-hc (daily updates) for video

Decided to use VLC, was hoping there was a plugin for WMC to add an equaliser, doesn't seem so. :(
You could try PotPlayer (basically an updated version of KMPlayer) - it has a built-in 10-band equaliser, and also has customisable mouse button options so you can start/stop with a left-click if you want.

It seems quite highly regarded at doom9, and it also supports using madVR as a renderer (like MPC-HC) if you're interested in such things. :)

You could install AC3 filter or FFD show and in MPCHC external filter settings set it to one of those for audio, they have equalisers.

I've been also using VLC ad it is good you could also maximize the volume to 200%. You could also try winamp it also work and another this is Total Video Coneverter it play different video file format and also it can convert it.

What kind of phone do you have?

If you have an android phone you could use unified remote to control pretty much any program.
