Note: I am running xp pro on my PC. The media sharing starts automatically on my PC.
I got my xbox working so that I could stream photos / music from my PC, but it was very tricky and I had to install .Net framework and service pack for .net 1.1
Next day I tried it again and my PC name was on my x-box but It said that it could not connect. So after some fiddling about nothing happened then after an amount of time it seems to have just decided to work !

I don`t know what`s going on but has anyone got any pointers?
Also is there a way I can transfer music files from my PC onto my x-box Hard drive?
Is there any way of streaming video to my 360 (apart from having media centre PC)?

Cheers

No and No there I am afraid.
If you really are having problems with media sharing then use a USB memory stick, iPod or something similar.

Personally never had a problem, set it up perfectly 5 times on 3 different Xbox360's.

Thx for reply NokkonWud !
That`s a bit of a downer :(

Can I load music to my xbox HD using a USB memory stick (Same with ipod)? If so that would be good.

You can actually watch streaming video without getting a MCE PC.
You could use
Xploder Xbox 360 Media Centre
But to be honest i haven't used it or know anyone who has, but i am curious as to how good it is though.

And also just a stupid question but the 2nd time you went to use it, was media connect running? it might not be set to automatically start when windows does.
Just a thought

Scroll down and it says:

SPECIFICATIONS:
REQUIRES PC RUNNING WINDOWS MEDIA CENTRE

I think all that xploder thing does is encode/decode incompatable video/music files on the fly so they are compatable with the 360. Thats IF its the thing I read about a couple of months ago.

aww carp thats nonsense, sorry :(
kinda pointless paying for that then innit lol

Dunno if this XSATA thing would be of any use to you for transfering music from your PC to your 360 hard drive, worth a look if you google it

Just set this up on my xbox360, luckily ive got Media Center 2005, it is amazing! I can watch tv from my xbox now and browse my pictures and videos etc. Ace. I would recommend media center to everyone now!
