Hi guys i'm looking for some advice on building a media server, currently i have a 1TB custom LinkStation Pro running Twonkey Vision to my Xbox 360 which work great.

I at first wanted to stream the content to some custom built itx machines but the cost of the machines was coming in at £199 whereas the 360 is now only £130

So i've decided to buy another 360 and stream from my linkstation to that too.

I'm now looking into building a media server and download box to replace my linkstation and Main PC as i have a laptop for light surfing and use the 360 for games.

I would use the 360 as MCE extenders and install vista as the server OS.

I have the following spec but i'm not too sure. The machine will be on all the time so i'm looking for some green hardware.

Chenbro ES34069 Mini-ITX Home Server/NAS Chassis

Jetway JNC62K Socket AM2/AM2+ Mini-ITX Motherboard with integrated GeForce 8200

Silverstone Low Profile Cooler suitable for JNC62K

AMD Phenom or Green X2

1 x 2GB Mem

SATA PCI card

40GB 2.5" SATA HD for OS

SATA laptop DVDRW Dual Layer Drive

What do you think, is this a decent setup that will play 1080p?

I'd have the box in a cupboard, i have Netgear Powerline adaptors that i would use to feed the rooms, or i may lay cable as we are getting new heating installed soon.

Cheers

it will easily play 1080p, but the powerline adaptors may struggle to play more than 1 1080p stream at the same time, depending on your wiring quality obviously.

Thanks for the reply amkan13, i'll lay cables as i'd want to create a tunner farm at a latter date if all goes well.
