Was just wondering what people used for serving media to DLNA devices like PS3, Smart TV, etc.

I have been using WHS for years and had no major issues with it but I've had to rebuild with Server 2008, so can't use it anymore.

I tried XBMC but that seems dedicated to the front end presentation, and I couldn't even get it to work over Remote Desktop for setting it up.

I then tried Plex which seems ok if a little slow. However for some mad reason you can't run it as a service, so you have to leave the server logged in which I don't really want to do.

So just wondered what other people use.

Thanks

I've got a i5 2500k media server that runs WHS 2011. This distributes the content to Acer Aspire Revos running Windows 7 Media Center. On Media Center I use Media Browser and I also run DVBlogic to deliver 4 virtual Sky HD tuners for use by the clients.

WHS v1 sending media to a Windows 7 Media Center. I've tried using my PS3 or my smart TV, but the W7 box is so much simpler to setup. But now I don't need a Freeview PVR I'm in the process of testing a Raspberry Pi running XBMC as a replacement.
