media software without full boot?

Hey guys, a few months ago I read a review about a piece of media centre software for windows which boots first without fully going into windows and gives the option to just play music/video/web/email.

For the life of me I can't remember what it was called and I'm havig no luck with google. Any ideas?

sounds like some kind of small linux disibution? on flash or somthing?
