Hi all,

I currently have a basic Acer i3 small form machine that is connected to my TV in the lounge that I use for media and streaming but it's dying. No chance of updating that I don't think so looking to buy new.

Used mainly for media and streaming primary but I wouldn't mind getting back into PC gaming to some degree.

Thinking of maybe doing it in two stages so getting a machine then adding a graphics card later, this may limit me to intel I guess? Unless I just get a basic card for now?

Need to include OS, could maybe strip 1tb HDD from current machine.

Completely out of touch for a while now so all advice welcome.

Cheers

Be more than capable for a media/htpc type with the added bonus of doing some decent gaming, if you felt you need an ssd or a new hdd then you could drop to a non Ti 1050 or swap the Ryzen for Intel.

I forgot about the OS, you would have to lower to an Intel Pentium G from Kabylake with the cheaper motherboards and possible ram due to ram speeds to include that or keep this potential build and find windows/Linux elsewhere(free for Linux).

Because it's a 4 core 8 thread processor like an i7, it won't bottleneck pretty powerful cards should you choose to upgrade.

This is what you would need to fit windows in especially with the rise in prices, still a very good machine for media/htpc like, but a balanced rather that good performer for gaming if you'd think to play recent titles of high demand and pretty good quality.
