media streaming pls help. need advice

Hi,
Can anyone pls help? I have a single computer. My router is connect to the pc via usb. The ethernetcable is is plugged into the ethernet port at the back off the router, then it is plugged into the back of the ethernet post at the back of the 360. Will I be able to stream music?

I'm using Windows xp "home" and Media Player version 11

The ethernet cable is plugged into the back of the router AND the 360? Or do you mean you have two seperate cables?

I can't seem to get the 360 to find the pc. Any ideas?

WMP11 - Tools - Options - Library - Configure Sharing

Make sure the 360 shows up there, if it doesn't, turn on file sharing for your network.

I'm no expert but I think this is pretty much it.

Are you on XP or Vista? My vista settings in network and sharing centre are as follows (probably similar to xp):

network discovery - on
file sharing - on
public folder sharing - on(read only)
media sharing - on

And my network is set to private.

That may answer a few questions for you. On another hand it maybe that your firewall is blocking the ports.. I know I cant connect my 360 to my PC if I have my firewall on. I just can't be botherd to sort it out.
