 Hi Guys,

does anyone know any device that is Wifi and can connect to your Home Cinema system and can be used to receive MP3 and DVDs stream via Wifi from the PC upstairs?

I.E. direct from PC to TV wirelessly?????

Sounds like a great idea and would save burning loads of dvd-rs etc, but does such a thing exists yet?

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have seen DVD players that have USB access on them now so you can plug an FAT32 external hard drive and they play the films off the hard drive with out having to burn the disks.

The DVD player supports loads of codec types so no probs there 2.

Cracking way of saving money on media ;)

not sure if this is aloud but how about modding an xbox and putting xbox media center on it, and then contecting it to one of those wirelsess game adaptors, that what i did, can stream files or just put them on the xbox, basic cheap computer

Another Vote for Xbox 360 - one of the selling points i used to blag the wife into letting me buy one :)

No more DVD/CD cluttering up the house - straight stream to 32"HD TV well nice :-) plus oviously i get to play on the 360 which is a bonus!

If he wants to stream video through the X360 then he'll need to install Media Centre 2005 on his PC. If he doesn't already own a X360 then total cost will be over £400 plus the time it take to install a new OS.

For less than the price of the D-Link DSM320RD you can buy a Freecom Network Media Player 35 and put in a 300GB hard disk. It's will play Divx/Xvid and DVDs ripped to it in ISO format. Also supports MP3 and Jpeg. It's just a little larger than an external 3.5" disk enclosure and fanless. Also support optical out for 5.1 sound and component video.

The player has a LAN connection, allowing it to connect to network shares. It doesn't have the wireless option you need but if you can get a wired connection into your router then you can still stream from your PC.

Jack, I tried the 360 and found the MCE interface very slow. But it's great for playing back photos and music through it's normal interface.

i think you got the wrong idea about what i was saying about the xbox i mean a organoal Xbox, and then you put a mod chip in and you can stream anything to the xbox i.e using vcl player, have a look at Xbox media centre on Google.

All you need is
Xbox £50 (must be version 1.0-1.6 second hand)
Xbox moddchip £30

p.s ya can upgrade the hard drive 2 any size, store dvd on there, store MP3, basically it window media centre with out the tv recording ability for a fraction of the price.

Much better deal that a xbox 360 for what you are wanting it for, plus no need to get widow media centre computer to stream.

I dont have an Xbox and dont have any intentions of buying one.

Someone else suggested putting a rig under the telly with Winblows Media Centre on it.
I probably have enough bits left over from my old rig to knock one up, i just need a case for it all.

However, i would put my old 9800Pro in it, but i dont know if thats gonna work with the tv.

I just want to be able to stream DVD's more so than Music into the Home Cinema system, without having to burn dvds all the time.

???
